Many UCFB students were fortunate enough to fly out to Estonia and Hungary earlier this summer to film some of the men’s and women’s youth UEFA European Championship matches.
Some of our students headed to Estonia during the UEFA U17s Women’s European Championships, while others flew to Hungary to give an analytical view of the Men’s U21s European Championships.
Students from our MSc Football Coaching and Analysis and MSc Performance Analysis in Football cohorts spent some time across the country, including in the capital Tallinn, alongside programme leader Connor McGillick.
The cohorts went out to the two countries as part of our partnership with FilmMyMatch, providing a tactical look into the tournaments’ matches.
Connor said: “It’s a great experience for myself and the students to gain insights in the top level of elite sport.”
Student Sean, who was also in Estonia, added: “We’re getting paid to do this. It’s brilliant experience to be able to record your game and work with national team analysts.”
Meanwhile, Jake, who spent much time in Debrecen on his visit to Hungary, said: “From this experience, I have gained a first-hand insight into how performance analysts operate within an elite sporting environment.
“This experience has also enabled me to network with professionals and gain valuable knowledge of the role of performance analyst.”
