A UCFB graduate is looking forward to working in the Premier League next season after Leeds United’s promotion to the top fight.
Aimée Carpenter, who studied a postgraduate degree at UCFB in MSc Football Business, now works at Leeds United as hospitality administrator.
Having started working at Elland Road only in September 2024, Aimée will now be working in the Premier League within a year of being in her role.
“It’s a dream come true to be part of such a high-profile, competitive environment, and I’m eager to learn and grow,” she said. “Being able to contribute to a club like Leeds United in the Premier League is a huge privilege. It all still feels a bit surreal to be honest!”
She added: “The celebrations throughout the club have been incredible, and it’s been a privilege to be part of them. There’s been an amazing buzz since we secured promotion, and winning the Championship title was the perfect way to cap it all off.”
Speaking about her role at the club, Aimée said: “My role is varied and dynamic on a day-to-day basis. My primary responsibilities include organising matchday hospitality and overseeing operations on matchdays. I also assist with a range of commercial activities as and when required.”
She then went on to speak about the best thing about working in football, saying: “Being part of a passionate, historic organisation with an incredibly loyal fanbase. The atmosphere on matchdays at Elland Road is electric, and it’s a privilege to play a role in delivering memorable experiences for supporters.
“There’s a real sense of pride in contributing to a club that means so much to the city and its community.
“The fast-paced nature of the football industry keeps things exciting, and the teamwork and shared purpose among colleagues make it a truly rewarding environment to be part of.
“I’m incredibly fortunate to work in a sport that I’m truly passionate about, and I make a conscious effort not to take that for granted.”
Speaking about her time at UCFB, Aimée said: “I can honestly say that studying at UCFB was one of the highlights of my life.
“I gained invaluable knowledge, met some incredible people, and had so many unforgettable experiences.
“At times, studying for my master’s degree at UCFB didn’t even feel like work – it was an experience I’ll always treasure.”
She added: “UCFB stands out among other higher education institutions due to its unique ability to help students build connections not only in the UK but also internationally. I also believe that studying in a dynamic stadium environment allows students to truly understand the operational complexities behind sporting events.”
She finished by offering advice for people wanting a career in the football and wider sports industry.
“Seize every opportunity that comes your way,” she said. “You never know where it could lead. Even if it’s not something you initially considered, it could open doors in terms of valuable connections, skills, or experience.”
