A UCFB graduate has been talking to us about her experience of working with our partners, Bloomsbury Football.
Amelia Armstrong, who studied a postgraduate degree at UCFB in MSc Football Business, is now a customer service and community engagement executive at Bloomsbury Football.
In addition to this, Amelia is also an ambassador for Her Game Too as well as co-founder and board member of Fulham Lillies.
Speaking about her job at Bloomsbury, Amelia said: “My role consists of assisting the talent and recruitment process, through helping review job applications, onboarding processes, and organising interviews.
“I also aid customer experience and operations through responding to customer enquiries and managing subscriptions.
“It's been incredible to intern at a charity which has such a visible, positive impact on the local community, and to learn more about how Bloomsbury deliver football sessions to over 5,000 young people per week.”
During her time studying MSc Football Business at UCFB, Amelia attended a global sports summit in Toronto.
Speaking about her time studying, she said: “UCFB offers students the unique opportunity to gain both academic and practical experience, and their careers service provides future graduates with great opportunities to gain employment within the sports sector.
“Furthermore, UCFB’s impressive array of partnerships ensure students get the opportunity to gain real work experience whilst undertaking their degree.”
UCFB and Bloomsbury Football have come together to provide a scholarship to promote inclusivity and diversity within football.
“The partnership between UCFB and Bloomsbury provides UCFB students the chance to work at a fast-growing sport for change charity making a real difference on the lives of young people around London,” Amelia said. “Whether it be through opportunities to apply for coaching roles, or off-pitch roles.
“Furthermore, our partnership will also allow our players to have the opportunity to attend open days and events with UCFB.”
She finished: “Seize every possible opportunity to gain experience - voluntary and unpaid experience is just as valuable as paid experience, and can really help when building a CV for prospective employers.
“Also, it's cliche, but putting yourself out there and building your network is an incredibly important part of operating in the sports industry - your LinkedIn is vital!”
