The University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) is delighted to have extended its partnership with The Powerhouse Project, as both organisations strive to empower the future female leaders of the sports industry.
The Powerhouse Project, founded by ex-footballers and sports broadcasters Rosie and Mollie Kmita, aims to make sport a more equal space for women and girls wanting to get involved.
“We have been involved in sport as players, coaches, broadcasters and business owners,” Rosie and Mollie said. “We want to show the next generation that anything is possible.”
The Powerhouse Project empowers future female coaches, players, media talent and sports business professionals. They do this through their many programmes, such as the ‘Next Ones Up’, ‘Coaching Queens’ or ‘UEFA B Prep’ programmes with Nike for coaches, or the ‘WSL Social Media Storytelling’ with the Women’s Professional League and ‘Pixel FC Academy’ with Google Pixel programmes for sports media enthusiasts.
UCFB is very much looking forward to continuing our work alongside The Powerhouse Project and seeing the steps which can be made to promote equality across football and sport.
Nick Wilkinson, UCFB’s Director of Global Student Recruitment, said: “We are delighted to be working with The Powerhouse Project, as we look forward to increasing opportunities, insight and access to the existing participants, many of whom are UCFB students, as well as expanding the reach of activities to a wider audience”.
Initially UCFB are supporting the WSL Social Media Storytelling initiative; offering young women the opportunity to take their first step into the media industry.
Sharing this ideology with us, it is not the first time UCFB have partnered with the Powerhouse Project.
Rosie and Mollie joined forces with UCFB in 2023 to form a female-focused scholarship, the Powerhouse Project Scholarship, which was awarded to Siân Hillis, an MSc Football Coaching and Analysis student.
Siân said: “I feel really privileged to have been awarded the scholarship. Achieving this Master’s degree will support with my future career ambitions of working in football.”
She added: “My coaching aspiration is to continue working in an elite female environment and continue gaining more experience along the way.”
