Two UCFB students and one recent graduate travelled out to Bulgaria in September to commentate on several European MiniFootball competitions.
Travelling out to Sofia, the three spent two weeks in the capital city commentating on multiple matches across different tournaments hosted by the European MiniFootball Federation.
The matches they commentated on were part of the Men’s and Women’s MiniFootball Champions League, the EuroCup and EuroCup Masters.
The three out in Bulgaria commentating were:
Matt Cullingford – BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting
Ben McCarthy – BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism
Liam Wingrove – BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism

They found out about the opportunity through UCFB lecturers Guy McCrea and Mick Kelly, and applied for the incredible experience through our dedicated JobTeaser.
After a successful application process, they enjoyed two weeks in Sofia watching six-a-side matches to crown Europe’s best teams.
As well as conducting commentaries on teams from across the continent, trio were also tasked with interviewing players post-match.

Wingrove and Cullingford commentated on two finals each, while McCarthy had the opportunity to host the closing ceremonies for both the EMF EuroCup and EuroCup Masters.
With quick turnovers between matches, research and time-efficiency became an important focus of the two weeks, but had the iron-clad support of the organisation’s president, Mark Staines.
