UCFB graduate Sam has used his sports media-related degree from UCFB to forge a career in elite-level football at Premier League Productions.
Sam, who studied BA (Hons) Football Business and Media, now works as the organisation’s senior media coordinator.
As part of his role at Premier League Productions, produced by IMG Media, Sam manages incoming league-focused content, from press conferences to interviews and TV shows.
This can include clipping and editing the content, as well as sending it to producers or broadcasters.
Speaking about his role, he said: “I’ll usually be down in the gallery where I could be building highlights for a game, clipping up interviews, arrivals, that sort of thing.”
“Working alongside the Premier League is one of those benchmarks you want to get to in your career,” he added.
Sam then went on to talk about his time studying at UCFB, and how that helped him realise he wanted to pursue a career in broadcasting.
“I loved the broadcast side of my degree,” he said, “which I hadn’t necessarily anticipated when I came to UCFB. I was thinking of going more along the lines of written journalism.
“But because of the mix of topics on the course, it gave me a taste of that. And once I picked up a camera, that was it.
“The course was the perfect platform for working within the industry.”
He finished: “For anyone wanting a career in broadcasting, particularly at UCFB, you have the facilities there and the opportunity.
“It’s the perfect chance to make mistakes, learn from those mistakes and develop your skills. You’ve got support from lecturers and staff. Just throw yourself into it.”
