A UCFB graduate has put his degree in sports broadcasting to earn a career as video producer at his childhood team West Ham United.
Taylor Wood studied BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting, and earned a position with the Premier League club before graduating from UCFB.
“Essentially, my role,” Taylor said, “is to film anything you see that comes from West Ham, whether that be on YouTube, Instagram or any social media platform.
“Whether that’s behind-the-scenes content, training videos, post-match interviews or small documentaries, that would have been made in the team I work within.”
Taylor then went on to talk about the best things about working at elite-level football week in week out.
“Matchdays are really exciting and fun,” he said. “It’s great to be that close. Being more involved is what makes it great. You are involved in the matchday experience. You’re not a fan, essentially.”

Video Content Producer at West Ham United
“I get a lot of enjoyment about doing the away games. To travel around and work at grounds in the Premier League and in Europe is great because you’re seeing a different side to football.
“It’s great for me to do my job, to film at different grounds and different locations across the country.”
Taylor gained the role at West Ham as junior video producer while still a student at UCFB, after using UCFB’s connections to gain not only an academic undergraduate degree, but also gain quality sports industry experience.
“The biggest thing for me was the opportunity to get opportunities,” he said. “You can go to UCFB, get yourself a degree and also work experience.
“The fact that I could go to university, and gain experience at professional clubs, broadcasters and agencies was a big reason for me going to UCFB.”
He added: “It was a great course. There was a lot I didn’t know before I started, and the lecturers taught us a hell of a lot during our time there.”
