A UCFB graduate has been talking to us about her role in the Women’s Communications department at Premier League club, West Ham United.
Evie O’Sullivan, who studied BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting at UCFB Wembley, is now a communications intern for West Ham United Women.
Speaking about her role, she said: “I organise media, whether it be internal from our social team or external from other journalists.
“I organise interviews, media requirements for players, managers, the club itself.
“On a matchday, I organise accreditations for the press box, photographers and then I’m the person on the pitch running after players saying ‘you need to do this interview.’”
She added: “It is quite cool to tell people you work for a Premier League club.
“I did apply for this job through UCFB JobTeaser. Taylor Wood and a few other people put me forward and said to my bosses now, ‘Evie’s applied for this role. Would you be able to have a chat with her?’ Within a week, I had the job.”
When asked about her time at UCFB, she said: “It was a really great course to be a part of.
“The connections the university has got. I went on a placement with Boreham Wood while at UCFB.
“Being at Boreham Wood taught me a lot, especially with skills that I had no experience in.
“It shows that UCFB have the network and we can go out into that industry. We can really be something in that industry. Not just the degree, it is getting a career as well.”
She finished: “Find something you enjoy. Don’t go into it for the sake of it. Going through jobs is a great experience, but once you find that role that you’re passionate about, stick at it.”
