A UCFB graduate and lifelong Everton fan was shown live on global TV screens with Jamie Carragher after The Toffees’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Myles McDevitt was brought onto CBS’ Sports Golazo show, where he works as a production assistant, following Everton’s dramatic 98th-minute equaliser.
Toffees captain James Tarkowski scored the stoppage-time goal to rescue a 2-2 draw and a point for Everton in the last ever Merseyside Derby to be played at Goodison Park.
Following the result, Myles, who studied BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism at UCFB, came onto the show hosted by Kate Abdo and featuring Thierry Henry and Micah Richards in punditry roles alongside Carragher.
Once on the set, Myles patted Carragher’s head, to which the former Liverpool defender said, “There’s not many people who’d get away with that.”
“Me and Myles have been winding each other up for a few weeks now with this game coming up,” Carragher said.
“He’s a massive Evertonian and he deserves his moment. It’s not easy being an Evertonian, I know that from when I was a kid.”
“It hasn’t been easy, these last few years, it has to be said,” Myles replied with. “I thought at the end, I’d just tell him to stay humble.”
UCFB’s sports media-related degree courses help our students kick off their own career in the football and wider sports industry.
