The winner of UCFB’s 2025 Entrepreneur Award has been speaking about the win, and what it means for his business idea.
Ben Blake, a BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting student, put forward his business idea of BM Productions alongside his business partner Liam, who joined the award event virtually from Dubai.
Talking about how he and Liam came up with BM Productions, and what the organisation does, Ben said: “We noticed a severe lack of coverage of smaller sports with lesser budgets.
“There’s so much in the mainstream about men’s football and such, but there’s a lot of stories which never get shared from sports such as cycling and horse racing.
“We’d love to plug that gap and share those stories.”
He added, speaking about how great the experience of taking part in the UCFB Entrepreneur Award is: “An opportunity like this really puts us to our tests. We can bring in our clients and experience, and being able to pitch to a room of senior individuals is brilliant.”
After his victory was announced, Ben said: “I’m really happy and appreciate the support of the panel
“I was in front of clients, pitching to industry professionals, being able to expect what questions they were going to ask in terms of refining the business plan. There were a couple of things they picked out which need some work.”
He added, talking about the future of BM Productions: “Going forward, we’ll be looking at the pricing structure and scalability of the business, because now we know that’s something people are really interested in asking about.
“The next steps will just be to get going. Hopefully, we can sort the equipment out pretty soon, as we’ve got a few clients and we can start filming in the industry, filming some cool videos and working with sports clients. That’ll be building relationships and building the contacts.”
