Postgraduate student gains mentorship and overseas travel as part of UCFB scholarship

A postgraduate student at UCFB has been speaking about the benefits of gaining a scholarship alongside her studies.

Georgia Pexton, who studies MSc International Sports Management, has been awarded the Global Leadership Scholarship while studying her one-year Master’s course at UCFB.

Thanks to her scholarship, Georgia not only has been granted a 15 per cent reduction on tuition fees, but also has gone to Australia on a sports summit, meeting with industry experts and learning more about the sports industry overseas.

She described the trip to Australia as an “incredible experience which provided invaluable learning,” as she gained further skills and knowledge about gaining a career in the global sports industry.

In addition to these experiences, Georgia has also received mentorship with an employee from the International Cricket Council, providing “guidance, a network, and a strong relationship with an industry professional.”

She finished by offering advice to students thinking about applying for a scholarship.

She said: Apply for those that you are eligible for and put your best foot forward from any experiences you have which provide you with a transferable skill set for the sports industry.

“Make sure you demonstrate your passion and ambition within your chosen space!”
