This summer, ten UCFB students gained quality sports industry experience at the annual Apex Cricket Festival in Somerset.
The students, from a range of UCFB’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses tailored to sport, conducted a variety of roles across the four-day festival.
From content creation to team liaison and covering the media of the event, the first-hand experience will prove to be invaluable for the students, wanting that career within sport after graduating.
The students working at the event included:
Tianna managed the social media, both longform and shortform, across the festival. Speaking about the event, she said: “It’s invaluable experience that I’m going to take with me for the rest of my career.”
She then went on to say about her time so far at UCFB: “It was definitely worth the investment, going to university. It’s not just a degree, it’s so much more than that.
“Being able to attend different events in tennis, cricket, F1. It’s incredible to be able to learn about not just one sport but a variety to be able to expand your knowledge and be flexible in different environments.”
Adding onto that, Melissa said: “I’ve travelled from the Manchester Campus to Somerset for this cricket festival. It just shows some of the opportunities UCFB gives you to travel.
“The skills I’ve learnt are transferable for a future career, and I’ve learned so much about a new sport.
She finished: “I highly recommend UCFB students to make the most of the volunteering opportunities available.”
