“We approached UCFB because we knew they had a high calibre of students coming through who are media-focused, have a strong interest in sport and a real determination to succeed.”
Those are the words of Sky’s manager of content services Shaun Barry, who spoke to us about the groundbreaking new partnership between UCFB and Sky.
He spoke about how for several years, Sky have been partnered with UCFB, advertising roles to our students in numerous departments across the world-renowned organisation.
“We’ve had numerous CVs come through since this partnership began,” Shaun said, “and we’ve seen many great candidates coming in.
“I have to say that many have taken on roles and flourished since they’ve joined us here at Sky.”
One of the UCFB graduates who now work at Sky include senior media operator Tom Atkins, who studied BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting.

Speaking about UCFB, Shaun went on to say: “When people study at UCFB, they’ve got a defined interest in sports, and for a lot of the courses which have a defined interest in media, they’ve probably grown up watching our output at Sky.
“Having the opportunity to come here tends to cross over quite well. They bring enthusiasm to the role, and that tends to resonate through the performance they give when they’re here on-site.”
