Two UCFB students have been gaining some valuable sports industry experience during a placement in the United States, working alongside a National League Hockey side.
Chloe Atkins, a BA (Hons) Football Business and Media student, and BA (Hons) Sports Business and Coaching student Alex Ciesielska have both been working with NHL team the Vegas Golden Knights.
Chloe and Alex were able to take part in the build-up to a major NHL matchday whilst at the T-Mobile Arena.
During their time in Las Vegas, the two students worked mainly in the club’s media department, assisting in such areas as social media, PR and interviewing players.
They also made an appearance on KKGK Fox Sports Radio, the Las Vegas-based radio station affiliated with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Chloe looked back on the placement and spoke about how surreal the experience was.
She said: “I got to go behind the bench after the game and help out with social media content, and even have some of it posted onto their accounts.”
As well as being at the arena itself on matchday, the students were able to see the club’s offices and practice facilities, seeing the morning skate and helping out with media in preparation for the next game day.
Ultimately the success of Chloe and Alex’s time in Las Vegas will mean that future UCFB students will also have the opportunity to work in this unrivalled placement opportunity.
