talkSPORT is one of the many elite broadcasting organisations to have multiple UCFB graduates working there, just like Anil Kandola.
Anil, who graduated from UCFB in 2020 with a degree in BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism, now works at the radio station as a sports journalist.
Speaking about his role, Anil said: “Normally, I help out on specific shows, doing a lot of work on The Sports Bar with Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy. It’s always fun, it’s fast paced.
“On Sundays, I work on a show called Sunday Session, getting everything ready for the show.
“I’m fortunate enough to go on air, talking about Manchester United, the team I support. I’ve reported on Wembley Way and done some other incredible things I’m really grateful for.”
He added, talking about what it feels like to work at the organisation: “Honestly, it doesn’t feel like a job. Genuinely, I could spend all day here. The people here are amazing.”
Anil previously had a work experience at talkSPORT before earning his full-time role, as well as plenty of other placements and experiences while a UCFB student.
“Combining my love of English language and media,” Anil said, “I thought the course was perfect for me.”
He added: “On one of our modules, I edited a podcast we created, and thought this isn’t what I want to do. I got pushed out of my comfort zone.
“Fast forward a couple of years, and my first proper role here was on the social media team, editing videos. It is crazy how things move on.
“Even if it’s not related to what you want to do, the skills you learn at UCFB, where everything is so tailored to the industry, is absolutely amazing.”
