UCFB is delighted to have extended our partnership with global sports media organisation Sky, offering valuable experiences and opportunities to our students and alumni.
The partnership, which launched in 2024, has already done much in terms of enhancing opportunities for the many UCFB students wanting to pursue their dream career in sports media.
Many UCFB graduates, most of whom studied our dedicated undergraduate degree course in BA (Hons) Sports Media and Sport Broadcasting, have gone on to thrive in successful sports media careers at Sky. Find out more about them and their journey from UCFB to the organisation.
One of the graduates working as a media operator for Sky, David Hawkins, said: “I grew up watching sports news, so being here now behind the scenes, contributing to the programmes is really cool. I’m getting to watch sport as I’m working, which is obviously great and a dream for a lot of people.”
Shaun Barry, manager of content services at Sky, said: “We’ve had numerous CVs come through since this partnership began, and we’ve seen many great candidates coming in.
“I have to say that many have taken on roles and flourished since they’ve joined us here at Sky.”
Across the first year of this incredible partnership, UCFB and Sky have also hosted several events together, including the Raise Your Game Events, alongside another of our valued industry partners, Kick It Out.
The events, one held at UCFB Wembley and the other at UCFB Manchester, was an opportunity for young people to kickstart their careers in the football media industry.
Speaking about the extension of the partnership, Shaun Barry said: “We’re really excited to continue the partnership with UCFB.
“This year, for the first time, we welcomed two students to our teams throughout the content services to our studios at Sky Osterley.
“They got experience with the ingest team, the archive team, the accessibility team, learning all different aspects of work that go towards contributing to making Sky Sports come to life.
“We’re really excited to welcome the next cohort of talent to our team early next year.
“We’ve had many graduates work through the time at Sky through freelance roles, full-time roles and next year, it only hopes to promise more.”
