The knowledge and love UCFB student have for the game makes this a really exciting partnership for me and my team at Coventry. I’ve already been into the class and spoken with these students, so they already know what I expect from them. Similarly, I know that the level of detail they will be going into to identify a player and recommend them to the club, so I can’t wait to see this partnership grow and be a success.

UCFB are proud to have a strong working partnership with League One side Coventry City. The exciting partnership allows UCFB Etihad Campus students on the MSc Football Coaching & Analysis programme the chance to work alongside the recruitment department for the West Midlands side.

As part of the deal, students are visited by Coventry’s Head of Recruitment Chris Badlan and his team to discuss the type of players the club are looking for and the philosophies of their various teams. The hope is that the UCFB can help assist Coventry in a diligent and stringent recruitment process across a number of platforms both at home and abroad.

Badlan helped set a similar process up when he was at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and now five of those students are working as full time scouts for the Premier League club.

Coventry joins a long illustrious list of institutions UCFB is proud to call partners, including The Football Association, The Rugby Football League and Kick It Out.

This is a really exciting partnership and opportunity for our students to get a first-hand taste of scouting for a professional and historic football club. I’d like to thank Chris and Coventry City for giving our students their time and the chance to work for the club, and urge our students to not let this opportunity pass them by.
