A UCFB graduate has been talking about how the skills, knowledge and experience gained during studies can help alumni thrive in future careers within the sports industry.

Bethany Parr, who works as a project manager at the Football Association, studied BA (Hons) Stadium and Events Management during her time at UCFB Wembley.

Bethany said that the UCFB undergraduate degrees, although tailored to the sports industry, offer a wide range of transferable knowledge and skills for a huge variety of future roles and careers.

“The transferable skills are really important. It’s about how you can take an item of your day-to-day course and actually use it in different walks of life.

“It doesn’t have to be just events management, but it could be project management or some sort of business management.

“But because you’ve got those skills and can develop them, you can take them into any job you want.”

Bethany now works where she studied her degree, at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

When talking about the iconic stadium, Bethany said: “Wembley never gets old. It’s a timeless venue.

“Everyone around the world knows what Wembley is, how Wembley works. And the events we put on, they’re iconic.

“No matter how many times you walk down Wembley Way, you think ‘Wow, I’m at Wembley.’”

When asked about her time at UCFB, Bethany said: “I can’t stress how nice it is to come somewhere where everyone is thinking the same, and you meet some really cool people who want to do the same thing as you.”

She finished: “Network. Get on LinkedIn. Don’t just build a group of followers or connections. It’s actually how you connect with people that matters.”
