A UCFB graduate has been speaking about how ‘delighted and grateful’ he is having secured his first full-time role in football, at Premier League West Ham United.

Michael Muhebi, who studied BA (Hons) International Football Business, is now working in football less than a year after finishing his studies at UCFB as the Hammers’ ticket office representative.

Michael said: “I am delighted and grateful to have landed my first full-time role in football, as that was my goal when I went to UCFB.

“Working in an industry where everyone is passionate about football and working within a sport that I have loved and followed and played since I was a kid is nothing less than a dream come true.

“Being able to walk in the stadium daily, have access and watching the games after the work is a great feeling, knowing that I contributed towards the event!”

As part of his role, Michael manages ticket sales, database management, card handling and even customer service throughout the week and on a matchday.

When asked about his time at UCFB, he said: “I met some amazing people networked and made plenty of new friends and I went and explored new areas as well.

I was entirely new to London as I lived in Bristol all my life and I move to London for university!

“The lectures were informative and creative and helped me to understand not just football but sports as a whole in terms of the operational, business, financial and practical elements. The lecturers were always on hand to help me whenever I required additional guidance whether it might be exam or assignment related.

“All in all, my degree prepared me for a full-time career in the fast-paced world of sports.”

He added: “UCFB is unique and differentiates itself from all other universities in the country due to the type of its degree programs and its content within them.

“The content is all football-related, being able to study in depth in the sport I love was great, and the campus is really unique.

“It was also amazing to be able to discuss football and sports in general, debate topics and catch up on recent football news during the lectures!

“As a campus, going inside Wembley Stadium every day for lectures with view of the pitch and the stands outside through the window was very motivating for me personally.”

He finished: “Find work experience early. During my interviews for full time jobs, all my interviews were centred around where I have previously worked and what did I learn.

“Internships and part time work that I did at Wycombe Wanderers FC and The FA gave me valuable knowledge and skills which were very transferable.”
