Working in the Premier League is a dream for many, but for UCFB graduate David Moat it is a dream come true.
Straight out of his BA (Hons) Football Business & Marketing degree programme, David found himself working in the commercial, marketing and corporate sales department at Watford FC's Vicarage Road. By working across various departments his mixed role allowed him to experience the many different aspects that go into running a Premier League club, joining Amy O’Connor as the second UCFB graduate to work at the club.
In December 2018, David then landed a role at Chelsea FC as Marketing Executive where he works on strategy and sponsorship activation for one of the biggest clubs in the country. Then in 2019, he joined Arsenal as their Women's Marketing & Communications Officer.
His work experience during his time as a student enabled him to make an impression to then gain full-time employment upon graduation, with his two years as a Business Development Executive at Watford, and a month in the social media team at Manchester City, standing him in good stead.
David said: “My programme gave me a great general outlook on what it’s like to work within a marketing department at a football club, and the real-life examples allowed me to hit the ground running in this role.”
He added: “My favourite aspect of working at a Premier League club is that throughout my childhood all I would do is watch football on TV, and it was the only industry that I was ever passionate about working in. Now I’m here, it’s amazing and everything that I thought it would be.”
