University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) became an official club partner of Hashtag United in 2021.

The partnership will see both organisations working together in the next series of Hashtag United Academy, which is watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers on YouTube. Participants will be seen sporting the UCFB logo as they battle it out for a contract with the Essex Senior League club.

The club was founded in 2016 by YouTube star Spencer Owen to play in a series of exhibition matches, however, the team’s popularity, coupled with Spencer’s online presence, soon meant the club applied for entry to The FA National League System. The club currently lead the Essex Senior League Premier Division and have ambitions to climb the English football pyramid.

Hashtag United joins a long and illustrious list of institutions that UCFB is proud to call partners, including The Football Association, The Rugby Football League and Kick It Out.

Commenting on the partnership, UCFB director Sharona Friedman said: “It’s always a great feeling when UCFB adds another industry partner to its roster, but this new link-up with Hashtag United is one that will really excite our student body. As an industry that is constantly evolving, Spencer and Hashtag have been at the forefront of how fans engage and interact with their football clubs, so UCFB students will be able to take away some incredible learnings from Hashtag and how they do things.”

Hashtag United’s Spencer added: “As two organisations who share the same vision and values when it comes to innovation, we’re very excited to join forces with UCFB. Having seen first-hand how students interact with the football industry, I’m looking forward to working together to provide more opportunities for them within the world of football.”
