A UCFB graduate has been talking to us about his experience of going through Clearing, and how his time at UCFB helped him earn a role at Premier League Productions.
Sam Smith, who studied BA (Hons) Football Business and Media at UCFB, is now working as a media co-ordinator at IMG Media – Premier League Productions.
Like many students, Sam applied to UCFB through UCAS Clearing, which allows prospective students to apply for courses which excite them at universities across the country in the summer directly before the academic year.
Speaking about his UCAS Clearing experience through UCFB, Sam said: “It was very simple and quick. I found it quite easy to make the decision to attend once finding out more about the course and the place.
“The staff were very personal and helpful in guiding me through the process. I was put in contact quickly with the right people who could answer any questions that I had.”
He added, talking about his journey from UCFB to Premier League Productions: “My time at UCFB was vital in leading me to where I am today.
“I learned so much that directly applies to the job I’m doing, which I’m sure is an experience many other UCFB graduates have had.
“The experiences working in the industry while I was a student, along with the expertise of the lecturers, gives you such a good understanding of what you need to do when you do get a job that you can hit the ground running and quickly feel comfortable.
“All this time at UCFB meant that now I’ve moved to IMG, working for Premier League Productions, I’ve been able to quickly pick up what’s required of me and work towards progressing my career beyond my current role.”
Sam finished by offering advice to students going through the UCAS Clearing process.
“Get in touch as soon as you can,” he said, “so that you can find out as much as possible about the degrees to help make your decision, and ask to speak to lecturers or module leaders.
“I was put in touch with one of the senior academics who greatly helped me make a decision.”
