Working in the sports industry but want to continue to upskill yourself? Then maybe following Jeni Kingman’s lead is the answer.

Rugby-mad Jeni was already working at Twickenham for the Rugby Football Union (RFU) as a Rugby Events & Competitions Assistant when she took it upon herself to study a Masters degree. However, she was keen to continue doing her job at the governing body so looked at her options.

This is where UCFB and its MSc International Sport Management (Online) degree came in, allowing Jeni the flexibility to work and study at the same time – even if it meant studying through a hectic Six Nations campaign!

In her role at England Rugby’s HQ, Jeni works on the match management of international, representative, Premiership and community rugby matches at Twickenham and around the country.

Commenting on her online degree, Jeni said: “I really enjoyed it because it built on what I do in my current role here at the RFU, but it also looked at areas that I wouldn’t necessarily focus on such as finance and sustainability. It really gave a different angle to what I do at work.”

She added: “The reason that I picked this degree, and chose to do it online, was so that I could continue working. I wanted to get a Masters but I wasn’t willing to stop working, especially as I really enjoy my job!”
