What to expect on the day

As well as being able to look around the state-of-the-art facilities you’ll use during your time with us, a number of academic and UCFB staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

They include:

Academic – find out more about your preferred degree programme and who’ll be leading it;

Admissions – our team will be able to explain to you the entry procedure for each degree programme, such as the grades required;

Student Finance – ask questions about student finance, loans and how to fund your degree;

Students’ Union – find out more about the fun and varied activities our SU organise for students each year, including Freshers’ Week;

Athletic Union – a number of sports teams are available to join at UCFB. Just ask what is running and how you can join;

Accommodation – discover our chosen accommodation partners in each city. We’ll have plenty of information at the Open Day; however, you can also plan to visit the accommodation on the day;

Scholarships and Bursaries – we offer a number of initiatives to help fund your studies, find out more about these from our team;

Employability & Enrichment – see how our unique model for learning is put into action. Discover what recent exciting opportunities our current students have been able to access;
Future Students Team – talk to our dedicated team about all aspects of your application to UCFB.

Open Days, at each campus, usually take place at 2pm. However, on occasion we’ll run a morning session at 9.30am also.

In the event of a change in government COVID-19 guidelines, we may need to amend the schedule of the day, postpone the on-campus Open Day and/or change the event to a Virtual Open Day. Please be aware that this change could happen at short notice, however you will be notified in advance of any such change.

Stadium and facilities tour

The Open Day includes the chance to tour each respective stadium and see a number of our state-of-the-art learning facilities. The small stadium tour* is hosted by the stadium operators, while our brilliant team will lead you around the UCFB facilities, including classrooms and the library.

*Subject to availability and Government Covid-19 guidelines at the time of the event.

Accommodation

There will also be the chance to look around our partner’s halls of residence on the day. Simply visit before or after your chosen Open Day slot to see the types of rooms available, as well as the great living facilities on offer.

Unite Students Arch View House on First Way is our accommodation provider for 2021. Due to the government guidelines, viewings are not currently available.

What time do I need to be there?

Please keep an eye on our website over the coming months for further dates. Otherwise, if you would like to arrange a one to one visit with one of our Future Students team at either of our campuses, then please contact us.

Will I be there all day?

No, you will not need to be there all day. The UCFB Open Days will run at the following times:

Morning session: 9.30am – 1pm

Where do I register on the day?

B2 Club Wembley Reception, Wembley Stadium.

To adhere by social distancing guidelines, we may need to alter arrival time and/or use a different entrance. You will be notified in advance of any such change.

Is there parking available?

Parking can be provided at Wembley Stadium in the Red or Yellow Car Parks. Wembley Car Parks are privately owned and therefore parking is offered at an additional charge:

6 - 8 hours £10
8 - 12 hours £12
12 - 24 hours £24

When you arrive at Wembley Stadium, please follow signs for the Red or Yellow Car Park, and for access via the UCFB Student Entrance, please see our campus map.

How do I get there on public transport?

Please make your way to the Club Wembley main entrance, as shown on the map.

Access from Wembley Park station

As you approach Wembley Stadium along Olympic Way, remain at street level and walk under the pedestrian walkway. Straight in front of you is the Club Wembley main entrance.

Access from Wembley Stadium and Wembley Central stations

From Wembley Central, turn right out of the station and walk down the High Road. Turn left at the triangle, towards Wembley Stadium station. Cross White Horse Bridge and turn left onto Wembley Park Boulevard, and follow the path in front of the London Designer Outlet. Once you reach Wembley Arena on your left, turn right and walk under the pedestrian walk way. The Club Wembley main entrance is at the top of this road.

Access by car

Make your way to the Stadium and follow signs for the Yellow Car Park off Engineers Way. Postcode – HA9 0EG.

Access from the Yellow Car Park

Exit the car park on foot onto Engineers Way. Turn right and walk along the road until you reach the zebra crossing. Cross the road and turn left on Olympic Way. The Club Wembley main entrance is at the top of this road.

How many guests can I bring?

Will I require ID?

All attendees, including their guests, will be asked to provide a form of ID, for example, a driving licence or passport, during the registration process on the day. Bag checks will also be carried out for security reasons.

What to do if you are a member of staff at a school or college and would like to bring your students to visit the campus?

Due to there being a limited number of places available on our Open Days we cannot host schools or college visits on these days, however we are more than happy to take school and college visits at other times. If you are interested in bringing students to view either of our campuses, please contact us.

Do I need to wear a face-covering?

Yes, you will need to wear a face covering to gain access to the stadium and at any time when moving around the stadium. Please can we ask that you bring your own face covering on the day.

Do I need to stay with my household?

Yes, the event will be running with social distancing in mind, you will be able to stay with your household throughout the event.

Do I need to take a Covid-19 test before entry?

No, you do not need to do a COVID-19 test prior top your arrival at the Stadium. We do however ask that you follow Government protocols should you be showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

What happens if the event is cancelled due to government restrictions?

In the event of a change in government COVID-19 guidelines, we may need to reduce capacity, alter arrival times and/or postpone the on-campus Open Day and change the event to a Virtual Open Day. Please be aware that this change could happen at short notice, however you will be notified in advance of any such change. 

In the event of this open being cancelled or postponed, due to a change in government guidelines, UCFB will not be responsible for any costs incurred in your booking, including travel and accommodation.

Access by car:
All Open Day attendees should drive at the Etihad Campus via Gate 7 on Ashton New Road (A662) and park in the Grey Car Park.
Our reception is located at the East Stand entrance (entrance F). South Stand car parking is complimentary for our guests.

Access by tram:
The Metrolink tram system is also a great way of accessing the Etihad Stadium. Please board the Ashton-under-Lyne route. The journey takes approximately 11 minutes from Piccadilly station and then reception is a short walk from the tram stop.

Is there car parking available?

Parking can be provided at Etihad Stadium free of charge. Please enter your car and registration details on the booking form. There will be one allocated parking space per student.

When you arrive at the Etihad Stadium, please follow signs for the Grey Car Park for access via Gate 7.

Will I have to pay for parking?

How long will I be there?

GIS Master's Open Events will run at the following times:
Daytime session: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Evening session: 6.30pm – 9:00pm.

In the event of a change in government COVID-19 guidelines, we may need to reduce capacity, alter arrival times and/or postpone the on-campus Open Day and change the event to a Virtual Open Day. Please be aware that this change could happen at short notice, however you will be notified in advance of any such change.

Where do I go on arrival?

East Stand Reception, Etihad Stadium.

To adhere by social distancing guidelines, we may need to alter arrival time and/or use a different entrance. You will be notified in advance of any such change.

How do I get there on public transport?

Please make your way to the East Stand entrance, as shown here.

Access by car:
All Open Day attendees should drive at the Etihad Campus via Gate 7 on Ashton New Road (A662) and park in the Grey Car Park.
Our reception is located at the East Stand entrance (entrance F). South Stand car parking is complimentary for our guests.

Access by tram:
The Metrolink tram system is also a great way of accessing the Etihad Stadium. Please board the Ashton-under-Lyne route. The journey takes approximately 11 minutes from Piccadilly station and then reception is a short walk from the tram stop.

Is there car parking available?

Parking can be provided at Etihad Stadium free of charge. Please enter your car and registration details on the booking form. There will be one allocated parking space per student.

When you arrive at the Etihad Stadium, please follow signs for the Grey Car Park for access via Gate 7.

Will I have to pay for parking?

Parking is free on the day. Please make sure you include the vehicle registration number and vehicle model on your booking form if you wish to park on the day.

How many guests can I bring?

To adhere by social distancing guidelines, our GIS Master's Open Events are strictly limited to one student and one additional member of their household or support bubble. For more information on additional guests, please contact us at events@ucfb.com.

Who do I email if I can’t make it?

If you can no longer make it on the day, you can amend or cancel your booking here. Please note, you will need your booking reference number which can be found on the confirmation email.

Who will be there?

The event will give you the opportunity to learn more about our unique degrees taught from within a living environment of football and sports industries. You will have a chance to meet students and academics, explore our facilities and ask any questions that you have about our degrees. We will also have experts ready to answer questions in the following areas: admissions; student finance; scholarships and bursaries; accommodation; students’ union; athletic union; learning support; student services and employability and careers in sport.

Will I have a guide?

GIS staff will be on hand throughout the evening to make sure you find your way round the stadium and help you follow the schedule of events.

I booked my place a while ago, am I still booked on? How can I check?

If you received a confirmation email from us, then your place is booked. However, if you would like to check details of the day, including your arrival time, view or make any amendments to your booking, please click here. My guests have changed, how do I let you know?

Will I require ID?

All attendees, including their guests, will be asked to provide a form of ID, for example a driving licence, passport or bank card, during the registration process on the day. Bag checks will also be carried out for security reasons.

Can I bring my application and documents with me?

You are welcome to bring your application and documents with you, our admissions team will be in hand to go through them during the breaks. However, we may not always be able to confirm immediately if an offer can be made – but you should hear from us shortly afterwards.

Will there be refreshments and food available?

We will have light refreshments available, however, we request that you don’t bring your own meals to the event.

Do I need to wear a face-covering?

Yes, you will need to wear a face covering to gain access to the stadium and at any time when moving around the stadium. Please can we ask that you bring your own face covering on the day.

Do I need to stay with my household?

Yes, the event will be running with social distancing in mind, you will be able to stay with your household throughout the event.

Do I need to take a Covid-19 test before entry?

No, you do not need to do a COVID-19 test prior top your arrival at the Stadium. We do however ask that you follow Government protocols should you be showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

What happens if the event is cancelled due to government restrictions?

In the event of this open being cancelled or postponed, due to a change in government guidelines, UCFB will not be responsible for any costs incurred in your booking, including travel and accommodation.
