University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) is delighted to announce the launch of a brand new undergraduate degree – BA (Hons) Esports.
Set to begin in September 2022 at both UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus, this programme will take a holistic look at one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
Technological advances have facilitated the rise in competitive video gaming where around the world a growing number of individuals and teams compete against each other online or in spectator filled stadiums. Because of this the industry now requires a workforce with a specific knowledge of media, marketing, business and event management. This unique degree programme is designed to support those who wish to work in this ever-evolving landscape.
It’s estimated that the global Esports industry is worth just shy of $2 billion, comparable to France’s Ligue 1 – the home of Lionel Messi. Advertising and sponsorship has exploded in recent years for events, and it’s estimated around 600 million people per year watch e-athletes play games such as Fortnite and League of Legends.
Behind all this needs a structure similar to that of Premier League clubs and long established sports institutions, such as finance teams, marketing units, events coordinators and media and communication departments. This programme will enable students to learn the skillsets necessary to go on and work in this new, exciting and ever-expanding industry.
