First Year coaching student Chelsea Pope has already been given an incredible opportunity in the sports industry, as she is coaching for Chelsea FC Foundation.
Chelsea, who herself is a Chelsea FC fan, started studying BA (Hons) Football Coaching and Management at UCFB Wembley back in September.
It was only a few months after her undergraduate degree started that she was offered the coaching role at Chelsea FC Foundation.
She said: “Gaining a coaching role for Chelsea FC Foundation has been one of my proudest achievements, particularly as a Chelsea fan! I’m so grateful to them for the opportunity and belief they’ve shown in me.
“I coach after school clubs, soccer camps, skills centres and development centres for both males and females. As a coach, my role is to plan and deliver high quality sessions that are fun and safe, and can provide players with the opportunity to develop.
“The foundation are really pushing forward with increasing female participation within their development centres and after school clubs too, so this is something that I’m looking forward to being involved with and inspiring the next generation of young girls.”
She added: “I’m loving my time at UCFB! I’ve made some incredible friends and met other amazing coaches, who I’ve been able to observe and learn from.
“The staff have been brilliant with the support that they’ve given me this year. It’s been the best experience, I’m excited for Second Year!
“The big dream is to coach professionally. My coaching journey has been one I’m very proud of so far, but I’m still in the early stages of my career.
“To reach the top level, I want to keep learning, gaining more experience and working hard to make my dream a reality.”
She finished: “Coaching is a journey and along the way, my biggest advice would be to gain as much experience as possible. Take every opportunity you get, observe other coaches and be willing to learn and develop.
“Coaching is such a rewarding feeling, I love it! Once you start and gain some experience, whether that is as an assistant or as a lead coach, be willing to continue learning and then the world is your oyster!”
