UCFB Wembley Men’s 1st team secured BUCS league success to continue a brilliant month for UCFB football teams.

Not to be outdone by their UCFB Eithad Campus peers –the men’s 1st, 2nd and 3rdteams all won their respective BUCS leagues too – the Wembley team secured the BUCS South Eastern 5D title following a dramatic last gasp win at London Met 1st.

Going into the game two points ahead of their title rivals, UCFB knew a draw would be enough to take the title back to Wembley. When London Met equalised to make it 2-2 with five minutes to go it was all to play for for the home side. However, with London Met pushing players forward looking for the winning goal they needed, UCFB broke away to score and secure the title with almost the last kick of the game.

After securing his third title in three years as coach, Gonçalo Menezes, said: “This season with adaptability, commitment and most importantly team spirit, we achieved our goals. Every player has shown along the way a champion mentality and this title is very well deserved.”

Captain Jordan Clements added: “Each player has made a fantastic contribution to winning the league this year. We will look to gain promotion again next year and win a cup too.”
