UCFB student Mackenzie Cadman is making a name for himself in the world of darts as a correspondent for popular YouTube channel Tungsten Tales.
As part of his work with Tungsten Tales Mackenzie has covered many of the UK’s major tournaments, including the 2017 Premier League Darts Final, presenting alongside ex-pros. Attending these tournaments has seen the UCFB Wembley student rubbing shoulders with the very best the sport has to offer.
Mackenzie, a BA (Hons) International Football Business student, said: “It’s the best experience being able to interview the best players in the world that I have grown up watching on TV. To now say that these idols of mine are my friends is unbelievable! I got involved with Tungsten Tales after meeting with them through connections I already had within the darts world.”
He added: “My work with the channel consists of presenting videos giving viewers the latest insight on the world of darts. When I attend televised tournaments I also interview the players as they come off the stage. This gives the viewers of our channel near enough instant thoughts of the players as they leave the stage.”
After founding equipment supplier DartLocker alongside his dad Steve in 2013, the darts fanatic hasn’t looked back. The pair have also opened their own store in Exeter. He hopes to combine his passion with skills gained at UCFB and take the business even further after graduation.
Commenting on his experience at the Premier League Final, Mackenzie added: “Working at the O2 Arena was great in many ways and I learnt a lot at the World Championships back in December last year too.”
It sounds like this is just the beginning for Mackenzie, who has also previously landed an exciting work placement with UEFA in 2016, attending the all-Madrid Champions League final in Milan as a match day operator.
