FC United of Manchester U21s, UCFB’s Undergraduate Academy Manchester side, were in league action over the weekend and continued their rich vein of form with an 8-0 win at Glossop North End.

FC United welcomed back some of the returning players that had just represented Great Britain in the Mini Football U21 World Cup in Prague as well as players appearing for the first team the day before.

Against an energetic opposition the FC United side looked to establish early possession and created some chances which the opposition goalkeeper did well to stop.

Henry Limpitshi put the visitors ahead mid-way through the half after breaking clear and Will Ozono doubled the lead with a smart finish after good build-up play from the attackers.

Both teams made changes in the second half and FC United started to dominate the game with a further two goals from Limpitshi and Ozono making it 4-0. Joel Mills then hit a quick-fire hattrick before a further close range finish from Nelson Onwsiri wrapped up the scoring.

The emphatic win saw FC United continue their impressive start to the season with the scoreline proving to be a fair reflection of the overall pattern of the game.

UCFB Undergraduate Academy Head Coach Kevin Braybrook was pleased with the performance and result saying: “The game had many positives for us today. The defending to warrant another clean sheet was something that has been an ongoing improvement. This along with the creativity in the final third showed good understanding of their roles both in and out of possession.

The final third play which resulted in the end product we produced was very good. We still believe there is far more to come from this group but they are demonstrating a real desire to improve individually and collectively which is really being supported by the excellent staff that are working with the group daily.”
