When Toronto FC take on Seattle Sounders in Sunday’s MLS Cup final, the Canadians will be looking to complete a unique sporting double.

Victory would wrap up a memorable year for the city following the sensational NBA championship success of the Toronto Raptors in June, after their incredible series win over the mighty Golden State Warriors.

If they overcome Seattle it will be their second championship success in just three years – an incredible return for a franchise that’s only 14 years old.

Toronto FC, home to UCFB’s global hub in Canada, beat Atlanta United 2-1 in the Eastern Conference final at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, another world-class host of the UCFB global hubs, to reach the final.

The Raptors and Toronto FC are just two of the sports franchises owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), who also count Canadian Football League side the Argonauts and the NHL’s Maple Leafs on their roster.

Commenting on a memorable 2019 so far, Chris Shewfelt, Vice President, Business Operations at Toronto FC, said: “When our teams win, we all win together. When Toronto FC wins championships it sheds a light on all the different properties. When the Raptors go on this unbelievable run and win the NBA championship it shines a light on the city and the country as well as on Maple Leaf Sports and all our other brands, so there’s a lot of sharing there and it’s great for the entire city and the country.”
