Finding out your A-level results is a memorable day for all students – even more so when you get the good news from an international football manager.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez was staffing the phones when he called a number of sports degree applicants to confirm their place at UCFB for this September. The FA Cup winning boss gave students the news they were off to UCFB and passed on invaluable advice on how to succeed in higher education and in the multi-billion-pound global sports industry.

The students were shocked to hear from the man who took Belgium to third place in the 2018 World Cup, but paid close attention to Martinez who told UCFB during his guest speaker session at the institution last year: “Education is everything.”

Martinez commented: "Congratulations to everyone who got their results today. It’s one of those days that you face with anxiety, but if you put the hard work in you get the results. Now you’re off to UCFB and I wish you the very best for the future."

Hundreds of students had their place at UCFB confirmed today with the release of their A-level results, with many more gaining a place at UCFB’s two iconic campuses through Clearing.

For the first time the 2019/20 academic year will see students and alumni accessing UCFB’s global hubs at New York Metro’s Red Bull ArenaAtlanta’s brand new Mercedes-Benz StadiumToronto FC’s BMO Field and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). These will allow students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise of the international sports industry as well as learn from professionals working at some of the biggest organisations in the sector.
