UCFB is delighted to announce that Countdown host Nick Hewer and Burnley FC’s General Manager Matt Williams will be talking to students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Hewer, a PR guru before finding fame on TV, and Williams, former Chief Executive at Shrewsbury Town, will appear at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus respectively on Wednesday 23rd November.

Nick Hewer

Before finding fame as Lord Sugar’s sidekick on BBC show The Apprentice and then presenter of game show Countdown, Hewer was an influential figure on the London PR scene.

After working his way from trainee to owner, his PR company was hired by Amstrad in the 1980s as the Sugar-owned company began to revolutionise the electronics market. His time at Amstrad saw Hewer and Sugar build up a friendship that would see them work together on the hit BBC show for nearly ten years. Hewer also played a major part in helping Sugar when he purchased Tottenham Hotspur in the early 1990s.

Hewer is now the regular presenter of Countdown, and is often seen on other day time TV shows.

Matt Williams

Oldham fan Matt Williams went from office boy to senior football administrator in rapid time. Originally employed as an assistant in Blackpool FC’s media department, Matt progressed to running the club on a daily basis.

Under the Oyston family’s ownership Matt experienced life in all four divisions, eventually rubbing shoulders with the elite of the Premier League.

Upon Blackpool’s relegation from the top flight, Matt took up a position of Chief Executive at Shrewsbury Town FC, before returning to Lancashire in 2015 to occupy the position of General Manager at Burnley FC.

Nick Hewer will appear at UCFB Wembley in the Atrium on Level Two at 10am. Matt Williams will be at UCFB Etihad Campus at 10am in the Commonwealth Suite.
