UCFB academic Darren Smith was part of the committee to welcome The Duke of Cambridge to Hendon FC on Friday.

Prince William was visiting the club, a facility of UCFB, to promote Heads Up – an initiative between The Royal Foundation’s Heads Together campaign and The Football Association – which seeks to raise awareness of mental health around men.

Darren, who leads the BA (Hons) Football Coaching & Management programme at UCFB Wembley from Hendon’s Silver Jubilee Park, spoke to the Prince about a range of topics including mental health and tackling racism in football, as well as the work UCFB and its students are doing at Hendon FC.

The Duke’s visit isn’t the first time that UCFB has been given the Royal seal of approval. Her Majesty the Queen visited UCFB Burnley at Turf Moor in 2012 as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Hendon FC is one of the many facilities UCFB Wembley is delighted to use, and is home to UCFB’s numerous sports teams, as well as the theoretical teaching space for coaching programmes.
