Jamie Green might just have been the lucky charm Blackburn Rovers Ladies team needed this season.

After clinching the Women’s Premier League Northern Division title, the team are set to take on Southern Division champions Tottenham Hotspur Ladies later this month in a play-off to earn promotion to the Women’s Super League Division Two.

Joining the club’s media team as an intern just before Christmas, Jamie, a BA (Hons) Football Business & Media student at UCFB Etihad Campus, has seen the team go the league season unbeaten and win the County Cup.

At Blackburn he joined UCFB graduate Andrew Rowlands, who leads the media team for the Ladies. So impressed with the work Andrew has done at Rovers, the club were keen to recruit another ambitious student from UCFB.

Jamie has been travelling to games home and away, and the role has seen him gain valuable multimedia experience, with jobs including live updates on the team’s social media platforms, setting up GoPro cameras for unique match day footage, writing match reports and previews and conducting the interviews.

Commenting on his work placement role at Blackburn, Jamie said: “This role has allowed me to put what I learn in my media classes into practice in a real working environment. It’s also given me the experience that will allow me to stand out when applying for jobs in the future.

“It feels great to have been given such a brilliant opportunity and to be working in a team with others in the football industry. Promotion to the Women’s Super League is our realistic aim so there’s a real buzz going around and it’s great to be a part of it.”
