UCFB is delighted to announce its approval as a recognised validation centre for coaching qualifications by 1st4Sport, the awarding body in the active learning and leisure industry.

After a rigorous assessment period, UCFB was rewarded with validation centre status and will now be able to deliver and award a vast range of coaching qualifications to students. Spanning both UCFB Burnley and UCFB Wembley, the 1st4Sport validation will enable students to further enhance their unparalleled student experience and improve their employment opportunities in the sports industry.

Amongst the coaching qualifications that this certification allows UCFB to award are 1st4Sport level 1 coaching awards in rugby union, basketball, badminton and tennis.  UCFB will also be offering 1st4Sport level 2 certificates in football coaching, ensuring the smooth progression of students that wish to enhance their level 1 qualification.

Whilst the qualifications will be of particular relevance to BA (Hons) Sports Business & Coaching programme students, those in all degree subjects will be able to work towards these industry-recognised credentials as part of UCFB’s unique Complementary Curriculum.

Sports Business & Coaching Lecturer, Mike Walsh, commented on the exciting news for UCFB:

“Becoming a recognised centre for 1st4Sport complements the Sports Business & Coaching degree as it encourages the students to gain qualifications across a range of sports. This opportunity increases the students’ employability, increases their knowledge base and transforms each individual into a more holistic coach. I think it is a brilliant opportunity for all UCFB students to really expand their knowledge and broaden their CVs.”
