UCFB is delighted to announce that World Cup winner George Cohen and PR guru Adrian Bevington will be talking to students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Cohen, who was England’s right back on that famous day in July 1966, and Bevington, a former Director of Communications at The Football Association, will appear at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus respectively on Wednesday 28th September.

George Cohen

The word legend is thrown around a lot in modern football by fans and pundits, but if ever there was a player that deserved the title it’s Cohen.

A World Cup winner, Cohen was named the greatest right back to ever pull on an England shirt in a TV poll. Remarkably, Cohen’s England career only lasted three years and he played his last game for his country just a year after the famous World Cup win. But in that short time Cohen was a continuous and reliable member of Sir Alf Ramsey’s solid back four, which included captain Bobby Moore.

Cohen spent his whole playing career with Fulham at Craven Cottage, making over 450 appearances for the West London club, before a devastating knee injury cut short his career aged just 29.

In 2000 Cohen, along with four of his ’66 team mates, was awarded an MBE following a press campaign to recognise all the players from the famous winning team.

His nephew Ben Cohen was part of the successful England team that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003.

Bevington is one of the most respected names in the world of sport PR and communications, and a valued member of UCFB’s Employability & Enhancement Panel.

In his role at The FA as Director of Communications, Bevington was involved in five World Cups with England. He was latterly the Club England Managing Director before leaving the organisation in 2015, and was part of the team responsible for hiring England managers at all levels.

He now runs his own firm, Adrian Bevington Sport & PR Ltd, and is a consultant to clubs, associations, owners and sports rights companies. Bevington is also a former member of the UEFA Media Committee.

George Cohen will appear at UCFB Wembley in the Wembley Suite from 12pm-2pm. Adrian Bevington will be at UCFB Etihad Campus from 10am-12pm in the Commonwealth Suite.
