UCFB student Tommy Miller will be fighting it out to be crowned British University Esports FIFA Champion next month after qualifying for the British University Esports Championship Winter Finals in Nottingham.

Tommy, a BA (Hons) Football Business & Media student, will be competing in the Xbox One tournament following a gruelling month-long qualification process. Fellow student, Charlie Jenkinson, narrowly missed out on the Playstation 4 finals after being knocked out in the play-offs.

Over the last month a tournament has been taking place to find the top eight FIFA players on both consoles to decide who would be travelling to Nottingham. Charlie and Tommy both qualified for the initial tournament with ease, however, the play-offs brought contrasting emotions for both players.

Charlie was unlucky to finish third in his group meaning he misses out, but Tommy won all three group games before a resounding 7-0 victory in the semi-final saw him quality for next month’s event. The results also meant that UCFB are the top ranked National Student Esports side in the country.
