UCFB Wembley students, staff and alumni were granted a once in a lifetime opportunity to play on the hallowed turf at Wembley Stadium.

It is the dream of every football fan around the world and yesterday it was realised by over 100 UCFB Wembley students who played a series of matches on the world-famous Wembley pitch. The first ever UCFB Wembley Pitch Day allowed students, staff and alumni to take to field in the iconic stadium that has hosted Champions League Finals, FA Cup Finals and England Internationals.

Students were treated to a fully immersive experience of life as a professional footballer, including a pre-match press conference for the team captains, full preparation access to the players’ dressing rooms and post-match media duties. It also gave students further insight into the operations, logistics, event management, marketing and media responsibilities surrounding a sporting event. Most of all, it was a momentous and exciting day to remember for all of the UCFB Wembley students as we draw close to the end of the first ever semester at UCFB Wembley.

Philip Wilson, UCFB Chief Executive, commented on this landmark event:

“Not only do our students learn in classrooms overlooking the pitch. They’ve also now had the opportunity to play on the hallowed Wembley turf. This is something that we’re all extremely excited about, and highlights the close integration of UCFB within the sports industries and our ties with Wembley Stadium. Looking into the new year, the students will continue to be engaged within the sports industry with more and more work experience opportunities around the world.”
