Commercial director at Watford FC, Paul O’Brien, has been speaking about how having UCFB on a CV can be a great advantage in getting a job in the sports industry.
Paul welcomed students from our Wembley Campus to Vicarage Road, where they were greeted with a tour of the stadium and then talks from UCFB graduates currently working at the EFL Championship club.
When we spoke to him, Paul said how he takes UCFB ‘more seriously’ on applicants’ CV’s when applying for jobs at Watford FC.
About the visit, Paul said: “It’s great to have UCFB back. It’s been a few years since we’ve done this.
“We’ve had speakers from a football side of the business to our EDI, our partnerships and our marketing now well under way. It gives a whole range of club operations.”
He added: “It’s about 15 people who have come through UCFB recently and are working full time for the club.
“Most of them started on either work experience or working on matchdays, which is brilliant as it gives them experience.
“When we are interviewing people, if someone has got UCFB on their CV, we take that more seriously because we know what grounding you give them.
“We know everyone who has come from UCFB has learned the basic principles. They’re all willing to work hard and they’ve all got a good understanding for what they’ve come in for.”
